Geronimo senior center to host holiday shopping on Saturday
The Geronimo Senior Citizens Center will present a Holiday of Shopping from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the center at 101 Main Street.
Several of the arts and crafts have been made by the seniors themselves.
Vendors which are scheduled to come include:
• ”A Touch of Sass;"
• Gold Canyon Candles;
• Front Door Creations;
• Crochet and Crafts;
• For Love of Leather;
• Mystic Homespun Crafts, and
• Handmade Pillows.
"There will also be baked goods, such as cupcakes, cookies, pies and cakes," said Charlotte Davenport, director of the Center." We will also have a concession where people can purchase hot dogs, coffee, tea, chips and nachos.
The vendors pay a fee to set up and proceeds go back to the center.
"We have to close nine extra days for the rest of the year because of budget cuts," she said. "This is a fundraiser to help us stay open."
Hours at the Center are from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. weekdays. Lunch is served at 11:30 a.m. The food is brought over from the Lawton North Senior Center and helps feed the 17-20 people who are there at the center most days. It also feeds 16 homebound older people.
