Cotton County Art Show will move to Chisholm Trail Center
DUNCAN The work of 11 members of the Cotton County Art Council will be featured in a holiday exhibit and sale at the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center, 1000 Chisholm Trail Parkway. Opening date is Thursday and a public reception will be from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. that day at the museum.
This free reception is a come-and-go event and guests will have an opportunity to meet the artists and purchase art just in time for holiday giving.
Patty Calfy, publicist for the Cotton County Art Council, said members were invited to have the show at the Heritage Center this year.
"The center invited us to have an exhibit," Calfy said. "They came over and did a program for us. They saw our art hanging up and were impressed by the quality of it so when the opening came up for their holiday show they thought of us."
This is the first time for the Cotton County Art Council to be exhibited at the Heritage Center. Members have shown their work around the region, including their own shows and in Duncan Art Guild shows.
Artists with works in the show are Lynne Adene Thompson, Priscilla Pennington, Michelle Roberts, Traci Pennington, Sharon Wiley, Pattie Calfy, Bill Boyer, Judy Brannan, Lavonne High, Linda Moore and LaMonte Dolman. The art council group received the 2014 Oklahoma Governor's Arts Award and members consistently win awards in shows throughout the region.
