Blue Moon sets bawdy 'Christmas Show'
Blue Moon Productions has been bringing cutting edge plays and one-act performances to the Lawton community for over 13 years. A small, nonprofit organization staffed by a team of dedicated volunteers, the Blue Moon team put their hearts and souls into the shows they produce. The organization draws its name from the old adage "once in a blue moon." They hope to offer their patrons a rare opportunity to view a special production that they might not be able to see otherwise.
The latest show, "The Ultimate Christmas Show (Abridged)" by Reed Martin and Austin Tichenor, looks to further that goal. "The Ultimate Christmas Show (Abridged)" is a sister show to a show the organization put on last year, "The Complete History of America (Abridged)".
"'The Ultimate Christmas Show (Abridged)' is about a holiday variety show and Christmas pageant at St. Everybody's Non-Denominational Universalist Church where all faiths are welcome because we'll believe anything," according to a posting on Blue Moon's Facebook page. "None of the scheduled acts have arrived, so three members of the Reduced Shakespeare Company are pressed into service to perform the variety show and Christmas pageant."
Sahona Littig, who directed last year's show, will also be directing "The Ultimate Christmas Show." Littig, who was excited to be back at the helm again, has been making the rounds in the Lawton theater scene for some time now.
"I've been doing this for over 30 years. I was in Peter Pan, that was my first show, in 1986 at the Cabaret Supper Theatre on Fort Sill," Littig said. "I was also in the final show they held there in 1989."
Anyone who was able to make it out to the sister show last year will be in for some familiar theater this time around, as the shows are very similar, according to Littig.
"It's really fast paced and, as my husband calls it, it's like an extended 'Saturday Night Live' skit. It's a lot of fun."
