Cornerstone Counseling to hold ribbon cutting Thursday
Cornerstone Counseling Center, 807 SW F, will have a ribbon cutting with the Lawton Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce Red Coat Ambassadors at 2 p.m. Thursday.
Jacklyn McNeil, director of the center, has goals for herself and the residents of Lawton.
"I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and an ordained United Methodist minister," McNeil said. "I am looking to hire a licensed clinical social worker in the near future to help develop a program geared towards the elderly in this area."
McNeil is originally from Fort Worth, Texas. She was offered a position with another company in Lawton and made Lawton her home. Her education includes a Bachelor of Social Work from Northern Kentucky University, a master's degree in Divinity at Asbury Theological Seminary in Willmore, Ky., and a certification in trauma from West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas.
"I have had 18 years of education past high school, and I have learned a lot about people," said McNeil, who treats patients from 20 months old to 78 years of age.
Services include individual, family, and group therapy; art therapy, PTSD counseling; and grief therapy. Adolescent behavior problems, depression, bi-polar disorder, personality disorder, anti-social behavior, narcissistic behavior, and personality disorders are all addressed at Cornerstone.
"I have been in business for 19 years in Duncan and Pauls Valley, including four years in Lawton," McNeil said. "We were accredited nationally 15 years ago, and we were JCAHO accredited six years ago."
