Same-sex marriage ban revived by bill

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP)  A state lawmaker has filed a bill calling for a second vote to change Oklahoma's Constitution and ban same-sex marriage.

Republican Rep. Mike Turner of Edmond said he filed the measure in anticipation of the current ban on same-sex marriage, approved by voters in 2004, being struck down. U.S. District Judge Terence Kern overturned the ban Jan. 14 but delayed his ruling pending an appeal  which has been filed. Laura Belmonte of The Equality Network called the law unconstitutional and predicts that any effort to bring it back will fail.
