Duncan man guilty of assault on mom's boyfriend
A jury found a 23-year-old Duncan man guilty Wednesday of severely beating his mother's boyfriend in 2012.
Zachary Cantwell was found guilty in Stephens County District Court of a felony count of aggravated assault and battery, court records indicate. His trial began Tuesday.
Cantwell was charged in late December 2012 and made his first court appearance Jan. 8, 2014, where he was charged and held in jail on $35,000 bond.
The charges stemmed from a dispute that began in early December 2012 regarding a motorcycle title. Cantwell denied first striking his mother's boyfriend, Zane Maner, 68, but admitted to investigators that once he knocked Maner down, he didn't stop beating him.
