Drive-by shooting reported in Altus
ALTUS A car was damaged but no one was hurt in a drive-by shooting early Wednesday, police said.
The incident was reported just before 2 a.m. in the 800 block of North Howse Street. Police Chief Tim Murphy said the victim told officers he was driving and was behind a light-colored vehicle. When the vehicle ahead approached a stop sign, a passenger pointed a gun at him and fired five or six gunshots in the direction of his vehicle.
The victim drove to the Stripes convenience store, 700 E. Broadway, and called police. Investigators discovered damage to the victim's vehicle, including two bullet holes to the front bumper and damage to the passenger rear door. Murphy said officers recovered evidence of the shooting near the intersection of North Howse and East B Street.
